This album was recorded live with the band in the studio at the Sauce Pot Studios in San Luis Obispo, CA. It captures the raw, live feel of full band performances. The recording of the entire album was completed within 4 hours in the studio which is a major accomplishment. The album showcases Ricky's vocals which are completely unedited. It is rare that an artist can confidently present even a single song with unedited tracks at this level, let alone 8 songs. The album features Ricky on vocals and guitar, Theodore Pedro Ramirez "Teddy" on drums, Endang Rukandi on percussion, and Joe Duran on bass. The Sauce Pot Sessions was released under Ricky Montijo & The Mojitos (an early band name that originated from the comedy behind the many attempts by fans to pronounce Ricky's last name). These recordings demonstrate the raw power in Ricky's diversity in Soul, Rock, Latin, and Blues.
